Description
Handmade Nuno* Felt Baby Alpaca, Green Ruffle Scarf with Golden Silk Highlights
This scarf is an extremely soft and lightweight neck warmer. It is crafted using the Nuno Felt technique with silk chiffon as a base or carrier fabric. The green wool is Baby Alpaca fiber from Hollyhock Farm in Cambridge MN. These baby animals have the most luxuriously soft fiber, especially if it’s their very first ‘haircut’. The ruffle, made from this fiber is a first cut, so it’s very soft and looks like lace. The gold highlights are made from Muga silk, collected from cocoons found in the wild. That luscious golden color is the natural color of Muga silk fibers.
The scarf can be secured with the unique button feature. By pulling one end through the button loop, you can create a gentle, soft bow. This scarf can also be secured with your favorite pin or one of our flower accents (sold separately). There is a ruffle on 3 sides, leaving the 4th end with less bulk that allows the scarf to lay in a smooth, soft manner.
Care:
The scarf can be hand-washed in cool water with a mild soap, rinsed and laid flat to dry. Be careful not to agitate, machine wash or place in the dryer. Shape or block the scarf to measure 11” x 30”. Use the wool setting on an iron if necessary. The outer edge of the ruffle can be gently stretched while pressing to enhance it’s fullness.
*FYI Notes:
Nuno Felting is the process of combining wool fiber with silk fabric to produce a strong but light weight item.
