Handmade Dark Brown and Gold with Turquoise Nuno* Felt Cowl
The deep, rich colors in of this cowl are highlighted by the natural gold of pure Muga silk fibers. It’s a comforting piece to snuggle into on a chilly winter day. Although very lightweight, it is surprisingly warm. The cowl is made from 100% sheer silk fabric with Superfine Merino wool, highly prized as one of the most comfortable wool fibers to wear. It is topped with turquoise tussah silk and golden Muga silk fibers. The Muga silk cocoons are collected in the wild and are naturally that warm, golden color.
This cowl or neck warmer can also be used as a headband, with or without a felted flower accent, (sold separately). Keep in mind that felt is not stretchy.
NOTE: The cowl is best not used in place of a Corona virus face mask.
Care:
The cowl can be hand-washed in cool water with a mild soap, rinsed and laid flat to dry. Be careful not to agitate, machine wash or place in the dryer. Shape or block the cowl to measure 12” x 10-1/2” in diameter. It can also be left in a ‘scrunched’ condition, making it ready to go when dry.
*FYI Notes:
Nuno felting is the process of combining wool fiber with silk fabric to produce a strong but light weight item. It is also used when a fun texture is desired. The fact that wool shrinks and silk does not makes for an interesting rippled effect.
Keep in mind that felt is not stretchy.
